Fall Bucket List

Fall Bucket List

For the first time this year, we tried out a Summer Bucket List. I wasn't sure if it would overwhelm me and make me feel pressured to get all of it finished. Instead, it ended up encouraging me to get to most the things I've been wanting to do for years. I thought it would be fun if we did a Fall list this year as well. There are things I have been wanting to do for a while, so I am hoping this will encourage me to do most of them. Some are for Preschool, Some are for the family, and some are for the adults.

Autumn Hedgehog

The seasons were changing and all the leaves were turning colors and falling to the ground. I saw this idea and thought it would be fun for the kids to explore the changing season by making something with the leaves.

The kids had fun with it. The leaves had a harder time sticking to the paper since they had just been picked up that morning and were a little wet.

Autumn Sun Catcher

I enjoy our Season Themes. As Fall rolls around, we love to see the beautiful changes outside. I saw this idea of doing a sun catcher with the things we found outside.

My 2-3 Year olds went outside with a bag to collect Autumn. They found a lot of colorful signs of Fall. I cut the middles of the paper plates and the kids put their autumn leaves on contact paper. I think I hot glued the plates shut since the contact paper didn't give the best seal. They hung them in windows as a sun catcher.

Field Trip to the Corn Maze

Every October we take a field trip to our local farm. They set up a bunch of play areas out front and then we get to go into the corn maze

The kids get to go on a hay ride and then pick out their own pumpkin to bring home.

This was our second year going. Our first year we under dressed. It was warmer at home than it was at the farm, We ended up having to bundle with left over coats in another parents car. It is good to bring some extra scarves and coats for anyone that gets cold. Being cold can really put a damper on the field trip. This year was warm so we didn't need the extra coats I brought.

In the actual corn maze we have the kids buddy up so no one gets lost. At our farm they have a farm trivia question so each buddy group gets a chance to pick which way we go. I would say we last about 30 minutes and then everyone is done and we take one of the exits so we can go back and play in the main area.

Sometimes I have families that have siblings or kids that come to Preschool for more than a year. This year I debated doing a different field trip to give them different experiences. After talking with the parent, we decided this was just a fun annual thing that everyone looks forward to.
